The innovative "immersion" battery technology fundamentally transforms the way we approach battery temperature management in energy storage systems. Our immersion battery packs are filled with a proprietary specialized dielectric immersion fluid that fills every gap around the cells inside the pack. The immersive fluid efficiently absorbs and dissipates heat generated by the cells during the cooling cycles and delivers essential heat to the cells during cold temperature operation. Importantly, immersive temperature management several performance and safety advantages:
Near perfect protection against thermal runaways due to physical damage, overcharging or any other events or defects.
Each pack is specifically designed to have sufficient immersion fluid volume to ensure that even in a near impossible scenario where every cell in the pack enters thermal runaway mode —due to damage, defects, or overcharging — the temperature never reaches the critical point where electrolyte combustion and oxygen-releasing cathode breakdown can occur.
At the same time, the cells inside the immersion pack are completely sealed from atmospheric oxygen, thus further eliminating the risk of combustion at lower temperature. This level of safety offers critical advantages in several applications as well as during battery transport.
Substantial extension in the useful life of the battery due to a highly uniform battery cells temperature.
Since the temperature of the cells inside an immersion battery pack is regulated through an immersion fluid that is distributed all around the cells, this energy storage system is able to maintain the highest level of cell temperature uniformity for each individual cell inside the pack.
This effectively eliminates some of the key reasons for battery cell degradation, thereby extending the useful life of the battery pack by up to 25%.
